I have a question. I am new to raising hens and have done a lot of reading on here. My questions may seem silly. We have 5 Black Sex-Link hens that are 19 weeks. We are looking for eggs everyday as I think this should be around the time they start. My questions is, can we eat the first eggs we get from them? I didn't know if we should wait for them to go through a week or so of laying first? Thanks for your help!

Yes, you can eat them. You will find some of them may not have a yolk or may have a half-developed yolk, some may even have 2 yolks! It's normal for young layers to lay some strange eggs until they get the hang of it, but they're all good to eat. Enjoy!
