Is it to early to give my ducks layer feed?

I honestly don’t know because I dismissed layer as an option before looking at the price. I get 50 lb bags of Country Companion All Flock for around $16 a bag.

Hmm it looks like the Nutrena Country Companion Feed line isn’t a national line. Mine looks like this.

I buy 4 bags at a time, and in the evening they get fresh cut orchard grass. The feed is 20% protein, so I don’t particularly want it to be their sole food source.

Instead of spending money on oyster shells, you can always crumble up egg shells and give that to your girls.
I have already started doing that, but could never get all the membrane out! DO I have to get all the membrane out or just some of it?

Really? Can you tell me more about that? My family goes thru about 2.5 dozen eggs a week. Our compost pile can’t keep up so we’ve had to resort to trashing the shells a lot. If we can stop getting oyster I’m all for it!

Wow! I did a bit of research and egg shells are an excellent source of calcium for humans too. My mind is absolutely blown! So cool!

Basically you just break it up. Crush it in your fist. I'm almost out of oyster and will be switching when I run out. Might as well utilize what I've got an abundance of already.
