Is it too late to start another round of potatoes?

Hello! I've just pulled all of my potatoes as I started them very early and the plants had all died back and produced very well. I am wondering if it is now too late in the season to start another round of them or if I can go ahead and start another batch if I can find some more seed potatos

Any Ideas on where I can still get some seed potatoes? Every store i've called doesnt have any!

What would happen if you used some of the ones you just dug? I always use potatoes from the last season, and have great results. But, the "new potatoes" you just dug may stay dormant for a while before they decide to sprout. Next time, hold back some of your seed potatoes for the second crop!

I have to re-start my cantalope. It all drowned in the last rain storm. I think i'll take a chance and plant some corn. Have been too busy to get any started till now. Have tomorrow off.

Good idea! Any ideas for something I can start right now that will grow will in a spot with a good amouunt of shade? thats where the taters were at

Hey there, I've found that the tiny "new potatoes " sold at Aldi's will sprout on my counter within a week of me buying them. I think the bag is $3.99 and comes with at least Yukon Golds and Redskins. Sometimes there are also blue potatoes in there.

Welcome! I've read that most store potatoes are sprayed with something to keep them from sprouting but the ones sold at Aldi's must not be. I have a handful the Yukons now that need to be planted. And it's cheaper too! Some of the seed potatoes sold are so expensive, no idea why

I buy seed potatoes for $.79/#. Supposedly, even if the "treated" spuds do sprout, there is enough residual effect from the spray that they do not grow as well. Any one with experience either way, please chime in!

You could plant any greens: lettuce, chard, kale. Or any of the Brassica crops: cabbage, chinese cabbage, broccoli. All of these crops grow fast and would benefit from some summer shade.

I don't see why you couldn't. I threw potato peels in the compost a few weeks ago, and they are getting big quickly. You should still be able to get another crop by the end of the growing season.
