Is my Ameraucana a hen or a rooster?

Is my chick a rooster or hen? I have raised Ameraucanas before but I have never seen one with a tail this long, also he or she is extremely protective of the other chick, which is a barred rock. Thank you for any information you guys can give.

So it looks like your chick is an easter egger, not an ameraucana What age is she? So far, I do not see any signs that she is a cockerel, so for now I would say pullet.

Hi there, welcome to BYC!

I agree with the first poster. Your Easter Egger (often sold as Ameraucana but not pure for color variety or conforming to the standard) isn't currently displaying cockerel attributes depending on age. I feel like I might be seeing some pointy feathers but that could be the pattern tricking my eye. I would love to see a pic including the rock along with age.

The fact that EE all look somewhat different than the other is one of the things I love about them.

She looks like my EE pullet but mine has the cheeks
