Yesterday my duckling lost a blood feather but we couldn’t find the source of where it came from as he wasn’t bleeding anywhere we could spot so he seemed to be good.
However strangely this evening every time he went to flap his wings he’d let out a single shrill call and then stop trying to flap. Is this an indication that he could be in pain due to the lost feather or something else? Since putting him in his bath for the evening he’s been flapping like normal, cleaning himself, and doing the “happy flappies” (little against-the-body flaps with his wings) that he does when he’s happy or excited. So we aren’t entirely sure what the shrill call he keeps making is when he tries to do a big flap is, or if he’s in pain.
Thank you in advance!
