Is my hen broody?

Hi, I have a Sussex hen that gets protective of any eggs under her when she is laying, but as soon as she has layed her egg, she forgets all about them. When she is in the nest she sits all big and puffy and isn't afraid of giving a couple pecks when I reach in to collect the eggs, however once she has layed her egg she is the sweetest little chicken. Does anyone know if she is broody or not and is there a way to encourage her to hatch a clutch of eggs

A broody hen will stay on the eggs day and night. She will also stop laying a day or 2 after she starts to sit. Your hen is not broody just protective of the eggs.

Ditto. Almost all my Tsouloufati girls do this when they're laying. This isn't broody behaviour. Many a times I've tried to get them to brood, but . What breed is your hen?
