Is my it possible my Ameraucana hasn't started laying after 6 months?

Ah yes....someday we will all have blue and green eggs to fill our cartons!

Sounds like mine will start closer to spring...I dont think there is really enough light any more in their coop. Terri O

Well, that's actually not an Ameraucana, that's an Easter Egger so yes it's normal. EE's can range from 18 weeks to 8 months for how long it takes them to lay.

We got two Easter Eggers hatched around 4/1 from a local farm. One has been giving us beautiful green eggs for about 2 months and the other we call our freeloader chicken. Figure she is our late bloomer and we love her anyway.

Those late bloomers are the most special though. I tend to coddle them as they are usually the most timid of the bunch, and when a roo comes a courtin they will run and jump into my arms. Everyone of my late bloomers has become a prolific layer, so keep lovin and maybe you will get a time clock Betty too.

Thanks for the clarification, WhiteMountains. I'm sure this topic has been covered countless times on here: Araucanas, Ameraucana, vs. Easter Egger.... To be honest, I always thought people were misspelling Ameraucana when they wrote Americana. I just found a cute article that gives a pretty clear definition of the FOUR different breeds:

Araucana
Ameraucana
Americana or the Easter Eggers
“What eggsactly is the difference?”

Is the description in this article accurate? Thanks again.

Yes, Carla is a definite favorite. :-x It will be a special day.... whenever the egg comes.

Terri O- Let me know when you get your first blue/green egg. We can wait on them "together". Ha!

MamiPollo - I'll let you know if I get a blue/green egg. We should all keep each other posted. :

My Ameraucanas and EEs have all been late bloomers. I currently have some Ameraucana and EE pullets that are well past 30-weeks and they're not showing any signs of laying yet. I'm feeling pretty zen about it. They'll lay when they're ready and no sooner.
