Is she broody?

Thank you bobbi-j!
I noticed today that she had 1 golfball out in front of her where I could see it. There's 10 there now. I slipped two more in last night just to see if she could cover them. Maybe 10 eggs will be too many? I'm putting them under her tonight since I got the rest that I wanted today.

She should be able to cover 10 with no problem. That's what I put under my large fowl hens. The first one hatched 5/10, but some of those didn't develop, and the last one hatched 8/10. I didn't look to see what happened with the two that didn't hatch. Good luck!

Ok, I put eggs under her last night, and she was very patient with that. Last question for now I hope... how often should I check for broken eggs? I collected 11 over the 3 days, so I just put them all under her.

I personally don't mess with my sitters, when she gets up and if I am around then of course that gives me the opportunity to check the eggs but otherwise its hands off, let momma do what she is supposed to do.

X2 As "they" say....no one knows how to be a chicken better than a chicken.

X2 Let her be to do her thing. The more you mess with her, the more chance of causing problems.

They can be off the nest anywhere from a few minutes to a few hours. Especially if it's warm and humid where you're at

Yes, it's definitely hot and humid here, not chicken body temperature hot, though. Alright, I thought I'd ask before I chucked the eggs, thinking they'd done died. Pardon my ignorance. I've kept chickens for only 2 years and never attempted to hatch eggs until now.
