Is the a mixed silkie, a recessive gene or just deformed?

Oh wow! Hey! I'm in Northern Va. too! Where do you live? I'm between Fairfax and Reston.

I had a darling little hen named Pansy who also had the floppy comb but, otherwise, looked pretty silkie and very similar to your girl. I think yours may be a cross as the skin on her face doesn't look black to me. Is it the picture? I'm sooo glad you brought her home and are giving her a good home. Bless you.

On another note, I am working at a fall festival and am in charge of tons of chicks/chickens. They will need good homes after October. Do you have room for anymore darlings at your house? They are free and most are pure bred. I want to give them to people who view them/treat them as pets.

How exiting! Im here In Front royal, all my birds live in warrenton on my Dad's farmhouse. i think Amaya face is mulberry, approaching black. the last two are the best pictures, she never stays still! I just couldnt leave her there after hearing what she said. i was going to trade her for another bird, but the breeder said "and take that one too if you want it" im so glad she did (im the type that never wouldve forgiven myself had i left her)

I dont have too much more room, but i have been seriously considering getting a few brindle hens. maybe blue, partrige or splash. i was thinking two maybe three more hens, ho many will theyre be needing homed?

Our parrot's beak started crossing a few years ago. We eventually fixed the problem. But it helped to have the vet sand the beak up to where it couldn't work on the lower one to cross. Of course, the problem is different that this girl. In the parrot it was because he kept climbing the vertical rungs in his new cage. Once we added a ladder it stopped.

i love parrots, but i cant have them here

Amazing! She looks so much like my Hazel. Hazel doesn't have a crooked beak or comb but her face looks like your bird! Take a look. Mine must be some kind of a cross with a Silkie but she has the bigger feet & comb/wattles & is bigger than my banties but I don't have any large chickens to compare her with. She was attacked by a hawk & left for dead but I nursed her back to health.

I think your sweetie is precious!
