Definitely not a welsummer. They have a really distinct v on their forehead as chicks and are darker.

My friend just confirmed that the legs are indeed yellow. I asked for a photo showing the top of the head but it wasn't too helpful as it's feathers look ruffled. Her tiny comb is starting to show now. I haven't told her that it's a pullet yet...she will be delighted! I assume it will be easier to identify the breed when her feathers grow in more. I'll update in about 2 weeks.

Yes, do post in a couple of weeks.

This is not a Welsummer, and I'm not sure that it is an EE...no beard/muff and no green legs, but EE's are mutts essentially and can look like anything.

If I could see the comb really well, and it were single, I might say Brown Leghorn, but the comb looks like it might be a pea comb, which would rule that out....and the feathers are in juvenile molt to determine true color and pattern.

Post again in a few weeks when it is bettered feathered....oh, and nothing is screaming roo at this point, but it is early.
