Hello all! This is my first time having chickens. I paid a lady 72$ for 6 sexed pullet at 10 days old. She did a thing with their wings that supposedly showed her the hens.

They are 12 weeks old now and I've had 2 of them trying to crow. Just sounds more like a scream to me but I'm sure it's the beginning of a crow.

My heart broke this morning because my beloved Hennifer just crowed as well. She was my favorite bird and now it seems she is a rooster too.

I was out looking in the run just now and I swear I see pointy saddle feathers on another one so that would make 5 roosters.

I'm super sad. These are our pets we've raised for 3 months and I can't keep roosters so looks like I don't have any chickens left except one that I can keep.

I'd like to post some pictures just to see if anybody can confirm Cockrell or pullet because I have to start finding homes soon :(

Numbers 1 and 4 have started crowing a really weird crow and 3 is Hennifer that tried to crow this morning. Number 2 appears to have pointy saddle feathers starting.

Assuming you meant 12 weeks, not months?

Chicken 5 might work out. The rest are Roos.

Not gonna say you got scammed, but the wing thing didn’t work too well. 😢

So they can be roos without having any wattles? Only the 2 for sure roosters have any wattles, the other 4 do not.

So sorry but you have a few cockerels in your flock. The wing method can be tricky and inaccurate.

Yes, there can be roos (at 12 weeks) without wattles. Comb and wattle size depends on breed. For example Easter Eggers and Ameraucanas have very small almost non existent waddles. So you'll have to pay attention to the breed as well as the size and coloring.

Are you 100% who crowed? I say that because I am not certain you have 5 roos. For example, #1 has the same development in size and color as my 12 week old Bielefelder female (who is auto-sexed) and I do not see any pointy feathers.
Also your #2 Hennifer is an Easter Egger, she has very female specific feather coloring.

Would also be helpful if you could tell us what breed they all are.

Could you get a video of them 'crowing' and we can help confirm?

Really hoping you have more pullets here...I know it's heartbreaking :fl

They are all easter eggers or so the lady said. Number 1 and 4 are definitely the crowers as I've seen them do it. Number 3 is Hennifer and this morning I saw her crow or atleast what I perceive it to be.

None of them actually sound like a rooster crow that I've heard. More of a scream type sound but they stand up really tall and do a weird neck thing while making the sound so I'm assuming it's their baby crows.
