I’m not sure what I am seeing here but to me when I candled I saw veins and an embryo bouncing around and now I look and am thinking is that a blood line??
Also I put them in on Thursday morning 27 June. Will it be tomorrow or Monday for adding more water and lock down. Nervous!

Don’t know what you mean by more water. You should be adding water daily to maintain a stable humidity. That is if you don’t have an automated incubator.

Is the embryo in the egg pictured moving anymore? Looks like the ring of death to me.

Update: if that embryo picture was taken today then that egg has been dead for about a week **unless my eyes are tricking me.

Could u post another candle of that egg?

Firstly Thanks for replying but I am in UK I don’t need necessarily need to add much water. Our air humidity is very high and I have read plenty about dry incubating. It’s kept At a stable level of 40%. The air cells are all looking like the pictures say they should. But then you have to add water to increase humidity 3 days before hatching, take out egg turner and wait I guess. I’ve seen the term lockdown loads on here! I know there’s are a zillion opinions but this is the decision I made.

The embryo was moving about at day 14 when I took this. I just candled it again and it’s grown bigger, I think! Nothing smells bad. Time will tell I guess, though I still see some veining and the other eggs are just dark shapes. Checked on you tube and saw similar pictures to what I saw. My main question is how do I work out when day 21 is. If i put eggs in on a Thursday morning is day 21 a Wednesday or Thursday

The Thursday you put them in is day zero.
Friday is day 1.
Saturday is day 2.....

My eyes may be playing tricks but that looks like normal veining to me. Are you seeing movement?

I did, I now realise my first pic was day 13. I checked last night day 16 and it's bigger. Then i looked on YouTube and saw identical looking eggs. This is a very pale egg and I could see clearly. My others are thicker and darker shells so I can see shapes but not veins so much. I did find two clearly arrested development ones last night though

So if CHICKEN eggs are set on August 1st at 12 noon, should the lockdown be done on August 20th at 12 noon?

Ah I'm still struggling to work it out. I set my last ones on a Thursday morning and they were hatched in a Thursday by the morning. I can't remember when I took the turner out. I think your to start lock down end of day 18. A few hours earlier or later doesn’t seem to matter. I set my eggs 12pm Friday 26 so I think day 18 is this 12pm this Tuesday. It’s exploding my brain! But I know I need to candle them so I thought I’d do it at night when it’s dark enough for the candler.

I would lockdown on the 19th.

It will not hurt a thing for you to stop turning the eggs on the 18th though. Turning towards the end is not important as turning the eggs for the first 10 days.
