Is this a man thing? Or just my hubby's thing?...

We're both still working on the "Yes, dear." Although, we'll hit the 1 year mark in 33 days!

So we must doing something right... The thing is, though, he's not really big on sweets... Usually I have open his mouth with my hands just to stick some kind of baked good in there..

So I really don't know what his deal is with the cookies, I tried sharing a big ole batch of pumpkin cookies last month, and ended up giving them to all the neighbors

Hubbies panic when they see their cookies go out the door.

I wanted to put two wrapped-up cookies in the mailbox for our lady postal carrier over Thanksgiving weekend. He wouldn't let me. TWO cookies!

my then soon to be 3 year old changed her mind from a rainbow cake to the princess and the frog 2 days before her bday b/c she got to watch it on netflix when we got it a 2weeks ago and its been nonstop - princess - frog frog- so needless to say we could not find anything here on the big island like figurines to put on the cake and it was too late to order some from oahu even - to get here on time so i ended up making a princess - she looks a little funny lol but its been a while since i have done cakes... more practice, cookies too!! i here you on the "yes dear" lol - congrats again. aloha

At DH's work 3 of the others are his Dad, his Uncle and his Brother... then there's Steve.
They usually grill up burgers for lunch unless they get a wild hair.
DH does the grilling, and often ends up not getting to eat himself... annoying to say the least.

ANYWHO, I've been known to send him up there with leftover roast, pasta, mexican, etc. Some times he'll hoard it so he's sure he gets to eat, and other times he'll share it out with everyone... really depends on time more than anything.

I DO know that times I've only sent one serving he's gotten the stink eye from his brother because he's stuck eating a burger or hot dog (they had like three HUGE commercial cases of those that took WEEKS to eat)... but mostly they share.

Sometimes Steve'll bring up a crockpot full of something and share with all... or stop and get donuts... sometimes FIL will splurge and buy a bunch of breakfast burritos or get a bucket of chicken for lunch. Sometimes BIL will randomly buy lunch for DH or all. Sometimes Uncle's wife will bring something up, like the previously mentioned cases and cases of hot dogs... but mostly not since Uncle is doing the low carb thing and no one wants to eat what he's having.

Overall I think they're pretty good about it... but like I said, if there's only one serving... stink eye.

Think how someone on a diet stuck with a bunch of greens looks at the other person who ordered a steak, loaded spud and broccoli smothered in cheese sauce.

BigIslandChicks, That's a beautiful cake! I hear you on the shipping, lol. I hate not being able to find things I normally would be able to on the main land, and by the time it gets here I either, forget what I wanted it for or it's too late. I was working on a sewing project one night, and couldn't find something I was sure I had bought, and so I looked up to find the 24 hr WalMart..... It was only 10 pm... Every single WalMart on this darn island closes at 9. Every single one!!! Argh.. And congrats on your two year aniversary! I hate throwing food away so I usually find people to share it with.

PineappleMama, That would be really annoying to do all the work of grilling and not get any..

I sometimes try to make DH a lunch to send him with, but I guess they take a food allowance out of his check for the submarine, they do make 3 meals a day.. So even though he doesn't like the food they serve he still eats there. Or someone will go on a food run and bring back for everyone. Speaking of the weeks to eat things that people share, kind of... One of my neighbors husbands was helping to clean out some sort of freezer/storage area on the air force base, and they found a pallet of Bud Light... A pallet!

And even though it may have been expired a couple months he loaded up the back of his SUV, he doesn't drink beer, but it took his wife a good two months to drink it all
