Is this a rooster?

Here are a couple picture of two of my barred rocks. They were born Feb 6 this year and I just took theses pictures of them. Feed store sold flock as all pullets and they all look the same except one. It's comb and waddles are darker red and larger than the others.

They all look like pullets. Your red girl is just maturing faster, she's going to be your first layer.

Well, that's my first thought. Then I look back at the pic and think, that's a lot of red for even 4 months. But the color and body screams pullet to me, I'm not even getting the male black sex link vibe from her. If it's a cockerel, it's one of the slowest maturing hatchery birds I've ever seen!

I guess I'm still thinking pullet. Could you post again in 4 weeks or so, let us know how things turn out?

Thanks for the reply , I will post again in 4 weeks. Hubby and I have a bet , he said roo and I said pullet. I have to say though I was hoping he was right.

Well looks like you were right donrae. We have renamed Her Roxie. LOL
I went back to pick up feed yesterday and they had a Roo Barred Rock that is the around the same age. I purchased him for $2

. I have him separated from the girls right now, till make sure he is ok and the girls don't hurt him. How long should I do this do you think ? ( don't want any blood shed.)
