Is this asking too much??

Sounds like the seller is VERY anxious to close the deal. Pretty suspicious to me.

Either way, it's not enough notice for a trip like that. Stand your ground.

why would she? If she is a good friend to support her emotionally then thats all there is to it. Cancer or no cancer that's too much to ask of anyone on such short notice and I would not feel one bit of guilt-even if she passes away. The sadness of losing a friend to cancer is one thing-the sadness losing a friend to being rude in expectations is another. ( Sorry no disresepct to the cancer patient)

I totally agree with you, sonew123. A guilt based relationship makes for a poor friendship, cancer or no cancer. Even in sickness, there must be boundaries.

The deal is a whole 'nother story! There is no way in blue blazes I would buy a car that I had never even seen let alone driven, let alone had my own mechanic check out!!

But, she has done this before.

But, I said No. She tried to convince the guy to meet her half way, agreed to drive to my place and leave her car here for a few days....... I still said no.

A little while later she said she had gotten some guy friend to take it up as a road trip adventure. It could have been an adventure when I didn't have kids and if we were going round trip together, but this also means you drive home alone......

I gave up spur of the moment multihour road trips just for the fun of it when I got out of my 20s and that was 20 years ago!

You can only do what is sensible for you & your family...

Besides, used cars are all over the place. How could one NOT find a car in their own town? It is odd. Keep us posted.
