Is this bumble foot?

Sounds a little similar to something my dog has, which were like... old, clotted cysts on her elbows? Not sure how else to describe it. They don't bother her most of the time but sometimes she'd scratch at the worst one (it bled easily) and so I finally worked up the courage to squeeze it out. The stuff that came out was thick, brownish-dark gray clumps. It didn't smell or anything so I simply cleaned the area as well as I could and has since healed up very well.

I know dogs aren't chickens but wondering if it's something similar to that?

I didn't take any. I was thinking about though and it looked like dried blood. Might have just been some trauma to the toe that caused bleeding but never broke the skin. I don't think it was any type of pus from what I have been googling, and gangrene is usually associated with a bad smell in people if I am not mistaken. There was no odor and I was fairly close to the foot with my face trying to see.

What do you think about the dried blood idea?

You could be right about the blood.

It could be some dried blood mixed in with other "stuff" that sort of built up over time to encapsulate whatever was there. Living bodies do strange things sometimes.

Just keep an eye on it and keep treating the incision site if needed. If the swelling starts to go down and it doesn't seem to cause her difficulty, I think you'll be in pretty good shape.
