Is this chick a rooster?

Because she wasn't asking if I had more than 1 bird, but rather more than 1 "Robin" because I kept referring to him as "they," which is a silly question that she already knew the answer to.

Is it? Oh, well thanks, I never learned that.
I don't believe they did know the answer - which is why they asked. Text is sometimes hard to decipher. I can say something very simple (to me) and some people don't understand. Sometimes I can't even simplify it any further and then I'm the one grasping at straws to help them understand.

Hello guys. I was wondering if anybody could give me any insight on my chick. This is Robin. I got them a little over a week ago at TSC. They were sexed as female. However, this little bird has a very dominant personality (with the other birds, very friendly to humans). They even boss around one of the other chicks that's a week older and much bigger. They also have a noticeably large comb compared to the rest of the the birds who don't really have much showing at all. This has me suspicious that Robin is a little rooster instead of a hen. Is there any trick for knowing for certain? Their breed is White Leghorn (my 5 other birds are all different breeds so I can't really compare them to one another).
100% yes 👍🏼 Looks exactly like the rooster I had

That's possible, sure. But what I think what was more likely was they were taking a stand against my use of "they" as a gender neutral pronoun to signal their feelings about transgenderism.

That's a REALLY far stretch to make. This is a chicken forum. Not Facebook. You're the only one here reading it that way. They were likely asking because they wanted you to share pics of the others. Or they were upset that this one is a cockerel and you can't keep it - so they wanted to know if you had others.

I've been here quite a while. We don't project pronouns onto chickens. They're animals. We DO care that we can help whoever needs help to the best of our ability. We care about the animals, and seeing that their new owners (or even experienced owners) are educated to care for them properly.

I don't think that's true considering the replies from Miami, and the likes they got. Seems pretty clear that's what was on people's minds. It's possible you're right, but very unlikely.

You're the one that brought it up and read it that way. The person who you got a bit snarky with (@Hermits Garden) is agreeing with me. So are a lot of other people it seems. Hug a chicken and relax.

I wasn't the one who brought it up.

"It's science. It shouldn't be controversial.
Follow the Science.

You brought it up first:
"Yes, "they" is used as a genderless pronoun when the gender is unknown. What's your first language? Your English seems good enough to be surprised you don't know this. Or maybe you're just the type of person who makes annoying nit-picky posts.

Of course people are then going to comment on it. It's the internet. That's basically a zoo.
