Is this gold dillute?

Does the buff have to be a true buff and not a buff pattern? (blue buff)

There are several who are working on trying to get cream/ lemon colors into d'uccles on that thread, so perhaps between everyone it will happen in the US!

True Buffs.. others like Columbian Buff are not the same..

OK. Well, at least i know not to expect too much from these guys! :p I will likely keep the little chick, just because he is turning into quite the pretty boy. I haven't seen the light colors with blue before, usually it is with the rusty colored birds. He should be quite a looker when he's grown! Very much a mutt :D

Thank you very much for humoring this particular genetics newb, i am sure this info will be helpful to others trying to understand the lemon/gold dillute color as well.

For now i am soaking up info since it would be useless to buy rare chicks unless i am SURE i know what i'm doing! Both color and care- wise. :) For now "I know enough to know that i don't know" lol Though i am turning into a decent chicken doc :)

You never know, (especially with easter eggers) ! I kinda like the gold roosters, so at this stage I can use his blue to promote the blue in my hens. My goals are not set in stone yet anyway.

thanks...

I love how this boy looks, nice Lemon hackles and saddle but with Red shoulders... I may go that rout with my Dilute project. its not that hard to acomplish

lol. that was my auction special, i liked his saddle and hackles because it reminded me of my other rooster. I had no idea he was carrying the gold as well!

His color is a kind of cream and very pale blue and rusty red, he is not white. I looked at a picture of a buttercup, and they are "henny" feathered too, so with that lacing and that comb it is a safe bet he is part buttercup. I thought perhaps being a laced rooster he would help me get the lacing in my hens. (my original goal was to breed more that had the lacing like my pet hen started out with)
.........I saved this guy from being a dinner, literally. I thought he was too pretty for that! He had already been trussed and tossed in the trunk! The majority of chicken buyers in my area are looking for supper, unfortunately.

That rooster's not actually lemon, right? I took that as you describing the color of the saddle and hackles.

I thought red was the evil? That if you had to work hard to get it out, and even then it would keep popping up? Or was that just the mahogany?

he is Not Lemon geneticaly, but he looks like it thanks to him been golden(S/s+)... yest getting Rid of the red shoulders is very hard, but on this case it makes for a nice contrast..

not even Cream can hope to Dilute the Red shoulders of an red enhanced bird(enhanced by autosomal red or mahogany)

check this "Cream" bird, it has the cream gene yet its shoulder and wing bay are enhanced..

more evenly diluted cream rooster(no red enhancers)

now check how this Blue Salmon Faverolle rooster look like? very close to the blue cream and the blue golden right? they are Silver but very very enhanced, and they breed true, but some just look too silver, so I guess some could actually be golden(not enough proof)

another blue salmon Faverolle

I like this one best! i am undecided whether i want lacing/ spangles in the boys too.............. I like the balance of these colors/ pattern.........I don't like the flaming red, but i like a softer version like this. :) I like the soft to medium shades of blue with the "rust" color. I have also noticed how this kind of color blends in with the woods better, good for me because i have hawks and owls! So it is good looking AND functional :)

So something like this i could do and still breed for the blue, bide my time until the cream/dillute comes my way :)

I'm probably being too simplistic but the gold barred hens came from my favorite hen, which i lost this summer. She had lacing, but the babies did not- the blue laced rooster would promote the lacing, right?

Has anyone ever done a blue laced lemon/ cream? (would probably look like porcelain) Or put a cream/lemon pattern with a chocolate?
