Is This Impacted Crop? *UPDATE* She's Gone.....

Hi Judy - I just read your last post on your BJ. Hope you solve the mystery. If he's eating, pooping and acts fine except for that bulge, and the vet couldn't determine anything (?!) I guess it's a wait and see thing.

I got a call yesterday evening from my vet - he said Gertie had some parasite (capilary) (sp) and he flushed her crop and has her on IV with liquid/vitamins and antibiotics. He wants to wait til she gets some food in her and gets her strength back before he treats her for the parasite.

This particular vet is an avian vet but does not do surgery on birds, only treats them. :| I'm in a wait and see situation too.

This sounds hopeful for Gertie, at least I sure hope so!

Sending wishes for her recovery and good times ahead playing in the sun.

Thanks for checking in on BJ's odd situation too

Ack - they're keeping her, she's not eating much and they had to tube feed her this morning, he's questioning her lung issue. they are sending a sample of her blood for tests. They can't treat her worms yet, she's not strong enough - PLEASE GERTIE, GET WELL!

Ack, indeed! I'll second your motion: PLEASE GERTIE, GET WELL!!!!!

Part of the not eating might be stress from being in a strange scary place........

Thank you for the good wishes Judy and Crtrlovr.

I'm going to stop by at the vet and bring along some chopped grapes and yogurt, it's her favorite, and maybe this will inspire her to eat. Maybe if she hears my voice also...

That doesnt sound great for Gertie, but I hope she rallies and starts on the upward swing soon. I picked up Ivy today. She is very thin, but her crop seems back to normal. I hope she's eating. Too many problems to deal with all at the same time lately.
