Bought straight run in 2018 as a Lavender Orpington and I’ve always thought that’s what he was and all of a sudden someone on BYC said he’s an Isabel Orpington and so now I’m curious what everyone thinks of him. Here are a crap ton of pictures I took yesterday from all different angles

he is absolutely massive in comparison with all of the other chickens, a little too big to be gentle on the hens, super good with humans of all sizes, and he protects the hens perfectly. He recently lost a spur while defending the ladies from a raccoon. He’s a good boy named Gandalf:)

He appears to be an Isabel. He's gorgeous.

He doesn’t have the “under carriage” down feathers like an Isabel, though (I took this when his spur was coming off after defending the ladies)

Where is he from? Is Isabel an option? All varieties of Orpington have the same body type. There are multiple standards of Orpingtons however like the American vs English and then hatchery Orps kind of stand alone in look, but lavender vs isabel shouldn't be associated with different body types. They're merely colors

McMurray. They don’t carry Isabel Orpington
