Is this lice? [picture]

Great job selecting the gardstar! i have never heard of a lice/mite protector , not saying whether it works or not. any birds in contact with the infected bird must be treated , and retreated in 10 days or you will see the lice back in the flock.
Have you identified the bug through the link i posted ,once you know exactly you can know more about whether to treat the nesting boxes or coops. certain external parasites can live off of the host (your chicken) and some cannot.

Hi LCL. I've been using the Poultry Protector spray. It does seem to keep the mites and lice away. Use that to spritz the chickens about once a week or so but use the dust first to kill them. The Poultry Protector is more of a repellent than a bug killer. I've only used Sevin dust...Maybe someone else here has used the dust you bought and can give you some tips? Good luck!!

Yes it is,
when I got a chicken that had lice I got the same stuff and it worked! just remember to dust them a secend time around 10ish days after to kill any eggs that had hatched inbetween the dustings. If you kill the cycle, you kill the lice.

I got a showgirl with the same thing and all I did was give her a bath with flea shampoo for dogs, I held the rooster in the water with just the head above water then I rubbed some on its head with my other hand and that's all it took.

If it looked like this then it was a louse (lice)
I use that garden and poultry dust LCL (whoops just realized OP was the one who posted pics lol Its been a long day) posted after I give my chickens a batch with Dawn.
Dawn kills them and the dust keeps them away!

I think your chicken might have had some sort of flea's...not mites...but i'm not totally sure

But no matter what it is, it doesn't really matter because all in all you don't want ANY bugs living on them.
So use what you got and you should get rid of whatever they are...lets just call them pests lol
