I have some hatching right now! Have two cups of water with wet rags rolled up and sticking out of them. Really dry here right now, and it pops the humidity up nicely!

Works wonders what kind of eggs are you hatching bantam or standard ?I have some hatching right now! Have two cups of water with wet rags rolled up and sticking out of them. Really dry here right now, and it pops the humidity up nicely!
Not Jay,BUT we used a car adapter once, a wood stove (at the neighbors! lol) another time, and a third we just left the bator be (it was a coolerbator and held temp REALLY well).Jay, this is only my 2nd hatching... the first was my broody pullet outside... so this is our first indoor one.... and everything has been going wrong.
How did you keep the eggs warm during the loss of electricity?

are you out of electricity right now?!?We have a crap ton of candles, so we could probably surround the bator with candles right? I think that would work. I like all of your ideas though!
I'm suddenly feeling broody reading this discussion.
Does anyone have a nest of eggs they'd like me to sit on? I promise my underfeathers are soft. I've got a nice stack of books to read, the injured rooster is on the mend. You've got eggs, I've got the time.
Just no straw, please. It gives me the hives.
