Is this OCULAR Mareks? Or what is it??

@mypicklebird Her eye is grey and cloudy. I know she can't see out of it either. I live in SF so this is a very small flock, cut off, for egg production. So I think I'm going to try the Tylan. But I am open to more suggestions!

Just checking in. Thanks everyone for the responses!

She is doing ok today. Definitely more lethargic. Still drinking and eating best she can one eye.
I put a little Neosporin around her eye figured it wouldn't hurt.
Ordered the Tylan online yesterday. No one in the city has it. So should be here tomorrow, Thursday latest.
Hopefully that's soon enough.

SF? Close to me- your state lab CAHFS is a good resource for you to know about. They have low cost mycoplasma tests on blood, and will do free necropsies if you have a recently deceased birds. They can do other tests on living birds as well. You also have some local yahoo groups of chicken folk, north bay and SJ area. If you drive outside of SF, you can get tylan & other poultry meds from a feed store. If they eye itself is grey and swollen- I am concerned that the eye will not be visual, even if the underlying problem is treated. Looking at the photo- the pinkish color, still looks like it could be just really edematous conjunctiva. I hope it is not the eye itself. If it is just conjunctiva- one the swelling goes down and that retracts- the eye may be underneath (hopefully).

Above is the link for the CAHFS submission form if you need it at some point, they are nice folks and have been very helpful with testing for backyard flocks.

Going to start the Tylan 50 tomorrow night.
Been reading on the site about Probiotic supplements after.
I can get the capsuls at Walgreens,

But how exactly should i go about this?

Also, should I give the rest of the flock anything? As a preventive??

I may take this to a new thread if I don't get any responses...

I wouldn't give it to the rest of the flock at all - you can give vitamins/electrolytes in their water daily to help battle any sickness they may be fighting off. Then if you see any display signs of sickness, just start them (the isolated one) on Duramycin which can be put in their water. If any getter sicker and the duramycin doesn't work, then you can plan on the Tylan 50.

What do you mean when you say "how exactly do I go about this?" The injections you mean? If so, just find the meatiest part of the breast and hopefully you found the smallest needle and inject it into the left breast first (once a day) and alternate to the right and back to the left for the following days after. This is how I was told to do it and it has worked successfully. You need to use a new needle every time, however, if you have a pressure cooker you can sterilize the needles. We wrap the needles in foil and pc them (out of the water) for 30 minutes at 15 psi.
