I candled today (day two) and in one egg I could see a small spot with an even smaller dark spot, as though the embryo already had an eye, but it's only day two. Could it be a meat/blood spot inside the egg? It was laid by quite a young hen, so it might be possible... I'll try to get pictures so you can see what I mean. The egg was laid on Monday and has been in the quite warm pantry for a little while. Is it possible that the pantry incubated it? I've never had this happen. It's under a broody now, who is a proven excellent broody. I'm going for a little while, be back soon with pics :)

Most likely a blood spot!
You shouldn’t candle eggs that early anyways, I always leave it till day 7 and I don’t candle from there on either

Thanks for the responses! I didn't see any vessels which was kind of a giveaway that it likely wasn't a chick. Should I leave the egg under mama hen? Can eggs with blood spots still hatch or will the blood attract bacteria?

Blood spot eggs are less likely to hatch. ... blood spots usually just mean there has been a small rupture of a tiny blood vessel during egg formation, and this can happen even in healthy hens.
