I worked with a lady from New York. She said whatever she was thinking.
Thats how it is here. I'm a very polite person and learned a lot of my manners when i was stationed in Fort Knox Kentucky. But when i am too polite in the city i just get weird stares so the NY attitude has to be out all the time

Sir's and ma'am's until your lips are numb. God forbid you said it with a hint of sarcasm, any adult within reach would adjust your tone with a grateful nod from your parents. We did quite often refer to long time family friends as Aunt/Uncle though. Our friends' parents could be referred to on a first name bases, but it was always Miss/Mrs/Mr (First Name) and only if they said so. It doesn't seem as common now though.

I'm a new yorker so you don't want to know what we say or not say at all.
This is why I love New Yorkers😂
I either keep my yap shut or I speak my mind so I'm not generally received well in the south where everyone puts on a face and spoon feeds you sugar coated jabs.

Just wanted to add that we also wave to other drivers when we’re driving. It’s very common here.
Facts. I can't drive out of my small town without waving goodbye to all the neighbors, pedestrians, tractor drivers, and horse riders. Drivers get the two fingers up from the wheel half wave.
