I have a 4 month old cuckoo Marans pullet that looks to have no tail. No feathers are pulled out but she does have that last vertebrae on her spine so I know eventually she will grow one.
However, it got my DD because she ran in the house with the pullet about a month ago to show me we had a rumpless cuckoo and wanted to know if I was breeding my Araucanas in with the cuckoos. I used that opportunity to show her how to feel the spine. The pullet is just taking a bit longer to grow a tail and I am sure eventually she will have one.

My Dad raised a Dutch bantam chick once that got pasty butt as a chick. He removed the fuzzy feathers from around the rear area and it never grew a tail.
