This is Goldie, my 28 week old silkie. Within the last month has grown a HUGE comb and wattles. And I mean huge. But does not crow yet. Can anyone tell me if they think Goldie is a pullet or roo? I appreciate all the help!

I actually think I found the answer and think it's a pullet! A little after I posted this I heard the egg song and figured it was my white silkie sense today is her day to lay, but it was this one singing and in the nest box scratching around, when I went back to the coop a little later there was an egg!

HAHA I have two ameraucanas that look just like yours!! And if it isn't crowing, then it probably isn't. The silkie roo I had started crowing at about a month or two.

It looks so much like a roo I'm still worried sense I didn't physically see the egg come out haha, but she was defienetly in there singing the song and scratching around...

I would have said it's a cockerel too. Males will often escort a pullet to a nest box, check it out and show her that it is a good place to lay and even sing the egg song, so not totally convinced that what you saw guarantees it's a pullet, but hopefully I am wrong and you are right :).... unless you are wanting it to be a cockerel :hmm

See I have so much to learn still lol! No we are not wanting it to be a roo, so I'm really hoping to figure out if it is indeed a he or a she lol! When I went back to the coop and found the egg, Goldie jumped into the coop and "showed me" the egg was in the corner by going and tapping on it.
