Is this the crop?

The hard ball is on the side of his neck, almost towards the back.
Is it different from grown chickens and chicks?
It's around 4 weeks.

Hm, I think it's the crop? The best way to tell is if it is empty in the morning, since chickens empty their crop at night. I am not an expert, so hopefully others weigh in.

I noticed that exact thing on several of my chicks. When I posted a thread, I was told that sometimes in chicks, the crop is in that weird spot. They are all back to normal. Check to see if there's a crop in the normal spot. If not, then the answer is obvious. If you have two "crops", however, you definitely have a problem.

Yeah, this one was firm like a rock.
Not squishy like the hens.

The crop should be on the front of the bird, on the right hand side of the breast. It should not be on its back between the wings. I believe @aart has a nice diagram. If you would, please ma'am?
