Is this what is considered a Blue Wheaten Splash Ameraucana?

We have 3 of these and from a feed store as Ameraucanas.
I can almost guarantee that anything labeled as and Ameraucana from a Feed Store isnt going to be a standard amerarucana. I have raised around 15 or so Feed Store birds and amerarucanas are never a pure bird. Hell, I was told I was getting a old english game one time and ended up with a plymouth rock! Feed stores are not the best to trust in what they sell.

I bought this girl from Rural King in February. I'm curious as to what her coloring actually is, as I would LOVE to get more like her.

She’s beautiful but she looks like a Easter Egger and she is laced! If you compare the pattern of her feathers to a Silver Laced Wyandotte you will see what I’m saying.
this thread was a few years ago so I truly hope you found out what she is.

I bought her from Rural King in the spring as an Ameracauna. But I've heard that the majority of feed store Ameracaunas are actually Easter Eggers.
Rural king sells Americana's not Ameraucana. Theres a big difference this bird doesnt have any muffs or beard like an pure bred ameraucana. The Americana from rural king are really just an Easter Egger or mix

just speculating, but her blue looks paler than most BBS blues, coloring too even to be a splash. I wonder if she is Lavender (also called self blue) Wheaton.
I was gifted one a few days ago. She's a Lavender Wheaton, also called a blue. She's brave, unafraid of my alpha, Juniper!

Welcome to BYC! :frow

The bird in question at the start of this very old thread is an Easter Egger not an Ameraucana and also not lavender wheaten as the hopefuls were speculating. Though it wouldn't surprise me if some folks are working on that specific project color.. I DID consider trying it when I was working with bantam Ameraucana.. because the wheaties were so much stronger (more vigorous) than the lavs and Isabella is a beautiful color!. However, it's one heck of a long term challenging project when none of the offspring would even show lav until the second generation and then to also get the pattern correct. Silver in Ameraucana is the same as brown for leghorn, I know of a breeder that was adding lav to silver.. obviously a different gene.. but just for example of the process..

Please consider starting a new thread and include pictures of what sounds like a lovely bird!

Just now I noticed you said "ALSO called a blue".. blue wheaten is blue wheaten never called lav nor is lav called blue, though many folks who don't know the difference between either color often call them both grey.. Pics in the two previous links show lav.wheaten/Isabella. While the blue can be light in color and possibly look very similar to lav, blue does NOT involve the lav gene. If the birds earlier in this thread were indeed lav.. then the red would have been diluted also! Link to photos of the Ameraucana (click on the blue wheaten to see them)..

Please understand.. I'm just an enthusiast trying to share what little information I have. I'm not an expert, nor do I mean to sound like I actually know anything! My intent is to be friendly and informative, preferably accurate, but it doesn't always translate to reality.

How old is your new addition? And your current alpha lady Juniper?

Happy adventures! :wee
