And having a genetic disorder that can be passed down should limit people from having children? if so, where does that end? People with a family history or stroke and heart disease? Cancer? mental illness in the family? No kids for you! It might be genetically linked! Little people in your family? No kids for you! So the Nazis had it right then? No breeding for the "inferior" people with bad genes? Why stop at the disabled, why not stop the poor or other ethnicities and races from breeding since they are such a drain on society?

Your the first and only one that has said they should be stopped.

No one should force anyone to not have kids. If you had a horrible genetic disease that had a high risk of passing it on to off spring why would you still choose to have them. If I had sickle cell I am not going to have kids for the fear of passing it on or if I had the money I would pay the scientist to get the genes that didn't have sickle cell.

It would of course be your right as a potential parent to decide what genetic diseases you are willing to risk - there are all kinds of genetically linked diseases, like cancer or ADHD and people every day with diseases like that in thier family tree have children. Some don't. Each person is different and has to decide that for themselves.

Yall, I have a disability that could possibly be genetic. It may very well not be. I chose to not take that risk so I have no kids. I was just saying that because of our health care, people like me have the option an chose to have children more often than other countries. I chose not to. That is my choice. I do not want to take that choice away from anyone though.

No, people should not be forced out of the chance to have a family. I wasn't arguing that anyone should be. People should have the choice whether they want to have children or not. You are taking my comments and twisting it into something dark, adding unintended connotations.

Rebelcowboy commented that people with disability live longer and spread bad genetics. I was pointing out the major flaw in that idea, that disability is not always a genetic problem. Perhaps instead of asking whether they deserved to have a family, I should have asked something else. Should a man who lost an arm expect his children to be armless, should a woman made blind in an accident plan on her kids being blind as well, etc. These disabilities happen, but they don't end up as a genetic problem passed on to their kids.

And that would be your free choice. I spent years in the Navy serving to guarantee you that free choice. There's no reason to bring up Nazis up in the conversation unless it was an attempt at trolling.
What I'm surprised at is that no one has said anything about the $500 average payout per month. I would like to see more effort put in to stopping the fraud and raising the amount that the people that really need it get. I don't see how you can get by on $500 a month they must also get food stamp and other assistance.

I know someone who gets $600 a month and unde $30 in food stamps a month. Not exactly living high on the hog.

Do you think the system should be so you can live "high on the hog" it's to help you get by till you can go back to work.

People shouldn't rely on this program. Like I said I'd like the payout raised but not enough to keep people from wanting to go back to work.
