Is us just me?

Does anybody else do a little happy dance in their head when you see a varmint "fox, racoon, possum, coyote, etc.." hit on the road near their house? One less predator in my area right. Is it just me? No chicken dinner for you Mr. Roadkill Coyote!
It brings me no joy, only sadness, that we have encroached so far into their space.

I'm always glad to see potential chicken killers hugging the highway. But not as glad as the local crows and ravens. Hey, corvids have to eat too...

By the way, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND that anyone who's got any interest whatsoever in road animals get themselves a copy of Flattened Fauna, the classic field guide to roadside remains. This is for real and hysterically funny, yet also useful. Written by a biology professor with a wicked sense of humour, who'd no doubt perfectly understand why some people do the happy dance when they see certain species communing with the roadways.

So what have you done to reverse the trend? Or have you said whatever I do won't help? Also, how many kids do you have? If any, your as much the problem as any of us. Your kids have to encroach somewhere. Shame on you.....
I am vegetarian. I have a vegetable garden but allow creatures to eat from it, too. I do not have fencing so that creatures can walk across my land. I do not have children, by choice.

Not exactly a happy dance, but certainly no remorse. I went to a lot of trouble and expense to "predator proof" my run and coop. Had a raccoon and a possum killed 100 ft from my driveway. My only thought, was what if, and that's one more that won't get my chickens. Every morning I approach my run with trepidation. So far so good. No rancor toward my Wildlife Neighbors but they've got hundreds of Acres to do their natural thing. But eating chickens in an enclosed pen is not part of nature. Happy dance? No. Sadness? No also.
