is whiny dead??UPDATE!!!SHE DIED ):

you say you got electrolytes......the proper one from the feed store? Is it Durvet? If so then the dilution is as follows:
If you have the 4 oz. packet of Vitamins and Electrolytes then you would mix teaspoon into 1 gallon of water.

If you have the 8 oz. packet of Vitamins and Electrolytes then you would mix teaspoon into 1 gallon of water.

If you got the pedialyte or gatorade then dilute 50/50 with water and please consider going to the feed store to get "proper" electrolyte/vitamins (the pedialyte or gatorade is just an emergency substitution when you do not have or cannot get the Durvet or equivalent sold at feed stores.)

IMPORTANT: When you give, do NOT "tilt head back" ...you must just dribble it alongside the beak until she is strong enough to drink on her own as she MUST swallow it on her own....
A bird has two "holes" >one leads into the crop and the other into the lungs... a bird is unable to "close off" the hole to the lung and if it does not swallow on its own then the fluid will more than likely also get into the lungs which will cause aspiration or infection.

UPDATE!!!!She is moving more, her head and her feet little and is drinking a lot better. She still will not open her eyes, or get up at all. Her breathing is deeper and she seems to like the heat lamp, I don't want to overheat her though, since the garage is getting warm!

how much poly-vi-sol should she get??

thank you all, YOU HAVE BEEN FAR BEYOND INCREDIBLE!!

three drops a day (I would give four ONE AT A TIME DRIBBLED ALONG HER BEAK until she recovers enuf to take three drops in beak) do this for a week and then taper off the next.

ETA: Since she seems to be recovering you must start thinking about nutrition...I suggested earlier you get some baby parrot handfeeding formula (look in the bird section of the petstore for this> it is a posder that you add water to ) if you do not have this yet then make a mush of her feed (lukewarm water0 and ever so carefully (remember you do not want it getting down that hole into her lungs) spoon feed it /dribbling along beak or just a wee bit at a time ensuring she swallows it on her own.

Thank you! She is really starting to gain energy. She still has not been able to get up, but when I picked her up she opened her eyes and did not let it flop! I have the pedialyte for now, and will get the other stuff tomorrow.
So do I just give that to her as if it were water?? Some drops every little bit? or should I give her plain water too?

I will pick up some of the baby parrot handfeeding formula if they have it at petco.

So, since this happened once, how am I sure that her body will learn to absorb nutrients now ??? I am confused about this whole malnutrition and what I will have to feed her. If she makes it will she end up the same as the others, as in I don't have to buy her special food, or will she always need special stuff??

Sorry about the mother load of questions!!!!!

YOu guys have been INCREDIBLE!!!!!!!!!

I don't know about all cases but in Ruth's case, because she had gotten so bad "dead", I fed her separately for weeks just to be sure she was eating enough. I also fed her scrambled eggs, chopped up greens and veggies and other nutricious foods, in addition to the chick feed. But in Ruth's case she had developed a severly twisted neck and needed assistance in eating/drinking till it straightened out.

If your little chick is already recovering this quickly she may seem good as gold in a day or two but keep up the vitamins for about a month if possible just to be sure it doesn't come back on her. I think once she's older and stronger she'll be o.k. from that point on. It seems to be more of a baby chick thing than an adult or juvenile thing but Diana/DLHUnicorn could offer more expert experience in that regard - but no, I don't think you will have to hand feed her forever - just think she got too far gone.
