is whiny dead??UPDATE!!!SHE DIED ):

Quote:
I tried doing that last night, moistening it for her in a large mayo lid, but she does not recognize it as food.

Do you think I should fill the bottom of a feeder (the one that fits on a ball jar with the holes) because that one she knows contains food????

Thanks for the support, and cheering me on...it certainly has been labor intensive, but well worth it! GO WHINY!!

one teaspoon durvet per gallon of water is incorrect>>>it is too much! (see comment underneath quote below)

Quote:
Okay, I have it, (no worries I haven't used it yet)
It is the Durvet Vitamins and electrolytes, the 4oz. one.

Yeah so it says dissolve 1/2 package in 55 gallons of one into 110 gallons!!!
I don't think I'll be needing that much.

So the proper measurement is one teaspoon per gallon???

As soon as I am finished posting this I am going to my original post and editing it as I just now saw that the amount (how many teaspoons per gallon) is missing!!!! (I copied that directly from the reference section at the other BYC location > I have alerted them to the problem) ... here is how it SHOULD read:

...for the 4 oz pkg (Durvet) >>> 1/2 tsp
...for the 8 oz pkg (Durvet) >>> 3/4 tsp

....so please throw out immediately what you have made up ((or double the amount of water currently in it) and make up with the correct amount of durvet... I am soooo sorry (I normally copy that info from my library which has the dosage info but this time from the original source which has somehow been damaged when they put the thread in the reference section!)

Thanks, I did this last night before bed. I forgot to post new comment, sorry.

UPDATE ON WHINY!!!
lol.png

She is now eating + drinking on her own! Her strength has really come back and she is not wobbly and jerky anymore (still normal chicken jerky, but not no energy jerky)!! She was up this morning when I checked on her at 7:30 am and she was going at her medicated chick crumbles. I did put them in her regular feeder bottom and moistened them and now she is chowing down.

I know I need to keep up on the vitamins, and on checking on her....but she is doing much of what I was doing for her on her own!!!

Way to go WHINY!!!

So this is what I am doing now for her, let me know if you can think of something more:
-She is eating on her own, the medicated chick feed from purina.
-drinking on her own, water from the waterer with electrolytes and vitamins.
-I am giving her three drops of Poly-Vi-Sol a day.
- I have her heat lamp on since she was sick, and she loves it.
- She is indoors in a large cat kennel so that she is protected and can be watched.

Is there something else you think that would help her as well?? I just don't want the malabsorption to return....ahhhh!

THANKS AGAIN CHICKEN FOLK!!!! YOU HAVE BEEN MY STREGTH TO GET HER THROUGH THIS, I AM SO THANKFUL!!!

Night and day, the diff between the first photos and these!! I am so glad she has such a wonderful person in her corner. I'm sure she feels your caring and that it is helping her immensely.

WONDERFUL NEWS !!!!

Just be careful she doesn't get too hot with the lamp that close in that small of a carrier.

Only other thing I would recommend is scrambled eggs. Once they try them they love them and they are rich in protein, vitamins, nutrients.

Great job - lots of hard work but look at the difference you made in one chicken's life.
