Found a soft shelled egg under the roost this morning with a small yolk so I believe one of my pullets laid her first egg at 18 weeks! Adam, glad to see you on one of my threads! You need to quit being so busy so we can hear more from you.
They are 19 weeks old today and Phoebe laid her first egg; at least, it's probably her first, though someone laid a soft pullet egg off the roost a few days ago, so this may be her second. I cracked it to see if it was fertile (it was) and I almost couldnt crack the shell-hardest shell I've ever seen! Maxie was also in the nests today, so hers may not be far behind.
I just came in with Phoebe's second egg! I was wondering why she was in a nest so soon after yesterday's egg---it's way less than 24 hours since that one, but this one is a bit smaller than the first. Still, it's that lovely peachy-tan color I love about most Delaware eggs.
