To say he's being punished is too dramatic. It's not like that at all. They bring various toys out from their rooms and have a big bin of legos in the living room they are allowed to get out and play with on a daily basis which I have to moniter to make sure Liesl doesn't chew them. I need to make things simple for myself so I can correct bad behavior if I see it. Adding another box of small toys is not the way to give me the best chance for success.Let him play where he wants and punish the dog, not the kid.
