Isa's Homestead Happenings and Hangout

He was DHs grandfather. DH was the first grandchild, and it was no secret that he was basically his favorite. ❤️ They spent a lot of time together as a child bc their parents lived in an apartment in the same house, and then later when they moved, still stayed very nearby until about age ten. In later years we all moved back to the East coast to be closer to him, and get more visits in as he was getting older. He just adored the girls. It's a shame with COVID going on, we couldn't visit nearly as much as we would have liked to; he would have had us over every day! Haha

Recently, our last visit got pushed back unfortunately, then it was Mother's Day and we were sick anyway so we stayed home, then he went back to the hospital. He was released to home hospice earlier this week, and my husband has been working on a deadline all week, so we were planning on going there again tomorrow or Sunday. It just sucks not being able to have the girls visit him one last time, but I'm sure by the end, he might not really be aware, either. Ughh. We were busy coloring sheets for him to bring with us, or send with DH when he went to see him this weekend. You always hope you're going to have just a little more time...
I lost my Grandpa almost 16 years ago. It's still hard some days. I'm so sorry for your huband's loss and that of your whole family. It will get better with time.
