Isa's Homestead Happenings and Hangout

In my opinion a wedding that you drop a huge amount of money on is a waste of money. A smaller wedding that doesn't break the bank is a very good thing. Enjoy, celebrate while times are good, but in a reasonable way. I say that knowing that I have a daughter that is more than likely going to want an expensive wedding and being the Dad I am, I will give that to her all the time thinking the money could be spent on so many better things for a couple starting out.
I agree. My wedding was big but not expensive. I know, I helped pay for it. 4th daughter out of 6 to be married, mom and dad had no money. My mom bought my dress and that was about it. It was a great day but went by so fast. One of the best things we did was get a horse drawn carriage. I always wanted a horse drawn carriage for my wedding and I made sure to get one

My younger brother and his girlfriend (I call her sil, even though they are not married) are considering getting married. They want to elope with her 4 kids and the baby they have together, so that the money could be put toward a huge reception. Both sides love food, they love food, so that is what they want to put the money toward. I suggested instead that they host a pot luck reception. She is a foster child, and she has 28 foster siblings. That alone is enough of a feast, and that way they would not have to feed 2 huge families. It saves money, allows for a celebration without the icky wedding stuff, and it would be less stressful on the couple that right now is seriously struggling in many ways. But knowing them, they will have a miniature version a horse drawn carriage: Her family raises goats. 🤭❤️🐐

It's about finding out what is best for you. Professional musicians, carrages, special venus or food. Pick one you like. Forget what some magazine or mother in law thinks.
Give it some thought. We both love history so for our Honeymoon we went to a B&B at the Plantation where Andrew Jackson courted Rachel. It was Great.

If I ever get married, it will be at a nudist colony. Boom! No one will go, so I do not have to pay for a big wedding...or wear a dress...or heels. Whoop! 🙌🏻

You have strange ways of avoiding things you don't like. I find "no" works well.

I know you are joking, but in all serious, people should be able to say no to things like this. I don't like to wear heels. So I don't. I bought a nice pair of flat sandals to wear when I was in my sister's wedding party. No elaborate scheme needed.

In all fairness, I am planning the big no to be if the guy proposes. In the end, everyone always leaves anyway, so why willingly dig myself into an even deeper pit in the hell that is life? Solutions, yo. Just say "No". 😎🤣

Oh yes, forget the evil mother in law. The one who's picture you handed to the reception people and told them that she is not allowed in the hall before the reception starts. The dumb broad tried to sneak in and change the centerpieces. Good thing I could see through her antics and had her banned until we got there. Man, was she pissed
