Isa's Homestead Happenings and Hangout

I'm one of the sensitive bunch. I feel like if it's alive, it deserves a shot. I'd never breed them. But I get that not everyone views it that way.
Id probably be in the same boat mostly. The ones I end up culling usually are pretty evident that they just aren’t thriving. Thankfully I havent really had healthy cull chicks yet

I'm toying with wanting a few blue egg layers when I have my land set up.

Obviously Araucanas (ideally 3 or 4 pens with one mixed color pen and the others for specific colors), but what else would be good blue layers? I'm considering WTBs for the color variation, and in a perfect world I'd also do British Araucanas, but that's not real likely unless i Frankensteined up some.
Real Ameracaunas, cream legbars, EE's. Obvs the latter is a gamble on color.

I'll already have a mixed pen that will have a few colored layers, EEwise

I've considered some of the Ameraucana colors (probably BBS, mottled and Cuckoo), but I'm just not sure I wanna risk fighting about Ameraucana vs Americana for the rest of my life if I have both.

I suppose I could always do standard Ameraucana and bantam EEs

I had a black and a splash. They were spunky and laid beautiful eggs. I had a lavender too but she got predator-d before she was old enough to lay.
