I also like to keep everything picked up, so I don't have vermin or snakes in the yard. Wild animals are much less likely to come into a well-manicured lawn when there are woods around you that are safer to hunt and traverse. Bobcats excluded of course.
That's true. Our barn is a hot spot for bullies and rattlers in the summer between the mice, eggs and hiding spots
 
Me and mom are going to sit down and figure out when to start my seeds tonight after she gets home. If I can, I'm going to try and plant my Indian corn a few weeks after the sweet corn to try and be safe with the pollination. I suppose I could always plant them in different spots if I have to though
