Like, to see them though she has to be hanging out of her shell (if I understood what I read correctly), and I am at a loss as to how to get her to wiggle that far out. I wonder if I put out a blob of meat stuffing or something if I can coax her out. She loves meat.

Yes, she has to be way out of her shell to see them. Most crabs climb into their shell when held, not out

Are you saying this was in Spencer, Ohio? Because it wasn't. There is no Clay County in Ohio.
