Hi! I am new to the site and I am also a new chicken owner. March 13th we received our day old Buff Brahma chicks 5 girls and a roo. We are also first time Vermonters as of December so as we worried for the cold we kept our babies in a large dog crate until they were 9 weeks old! a few weeks ago our Roo was grabbed by our family dog (who now has her own area of the yard) and he was injured. After 3 weeks of vet visits and nursing him with building a sling(his one leg was lame) he passed away in the night. We now cannot find another Buff Brahma Roo without having to buy 10 rooster chicks!!! I love them but I do not want 10 Roos! I am willing to travel a little distance to get another but I am very set on a BUFF Brahma. so I guess my reason for posting is maybe someone has or knows someone who has new chicks or even an older guy no more than 16 weeks so my ladies arent too far off in age. I am willing to travel a few hour away ( not as far as FL but maybe a couple states away if shipping not available). we are heartbroken over what happened to our "Jorge" and really want to give our girls another guy in the flock. If anyone has any info that could be of help we appreciate it. we have pretty much contacted all of the online hatcheries we would have to wait until next Feb as they are sold out of our desired breed.

I'm so sorry for your loss of Jorge! 😞I'm in Middle Tennessee, formally from Michigan (can't change my location 😩). I'm a ways away, but have an awesome Buff Brahma cockerel who is eight weeks old as of yesterday! He is my friendliest chick and incredibly active and curious (not in a flighty way whatsoever). I have well over half of my 16 babies being cockerels or else I'd love to keep him. He's from Carolina Rare Chicks so should be HUGE. He is very slow to feather out partially due to being a Brahma and partially because his frame is so large! His body seems to prioritize size and muscle before feathers I guess! Lol!! His name is Cheeto and here are a few pictures that I have right on my phone. I will get better pictures if you want! He's much cuter in person! The picture in the coop is from a week or two ago, just thought it showed off these really cute black markings on the waterline of his eyes. Very unique trait and makes me feel bad because it makes him look so sad all the time! 😍
