It’s been 47 hours since noticed internal pip. Is it time to assist??? HELP!

I just moistened it. And I turned up the humidity to 70%. No veins or membranes at all. I’m so worried!!
I totally understand as it can be stressful, especially at this point. If there is no active veins in the membrane and it's not chewing/yawning, it might be unable to zip. At this point, I open up the entire area over the air cell. You still don't want to pull the little from the shell, you'll want to let it do that and oftentimes I find that frustration you're hearing is just what they need to push out. Once the shell over the membrane has been removed, you should be able to get a better idea if he's stuck or not. What has your humidity been?

Start at the hole you've already made and gently chip away teeny bits of the shell (not the membrane), staying inside the air cell. If the bill is clear, it's OK. It sounds like it's getting frustrated, but it's important to make sure the veins have receded so it doesn't bleed.
I just read the “assistant in hatching article” In my very newbie opinion I believe it may be time.
Quick question, we don’t have any coconut oil, can I use anything else??
Thank you! 🥰

Vaseline is suitable for keeping the membrane moist, if you have any-
but coconut oil is better for seeing the veins
@New duck mommy 2021

Amy I messaged you this morning ti see how things were going
Take a Q tip and wet it then rub it on the membrane to look for veins
This will not keep it moist but allow you to see in
If you don’t see veins continue in the air cell end removing shell babies can take 48-72 hours so he isn’t in the danger zone but he may also be ready and unable to get out on his own
Please take pics after you wet the membrane so we can help you figure it out

Since he’s a Muscovy my humidity has been between 65-67% I just made it higher to 71%
I read the fantastic article about assisted hatching and I think I’m going to take your advice and remove the shell around the air sac where his head is and talk to him.
Should I turn up the heat in the house so he doesn’t get cold?
Obviously I can’t work inside the incubator and the alarm is very loud when it’s open and cools.
After removing the shell around the air cell should I pup him back in the incubator or look around to make sure the yolk sac is absorbed first?
I know if it’s not absorbed I need to put baby in a cup with a paper towel keeping his bottom in the shell. But how do I keep him warm? Should I put the cup in his brooder under the heat lamp??
And one more question, we do not have coconut oil, is there anything else I can use to moisten?
We have A&D ointment but no Neosporin, is that ok if I need to use it?

Thank you so much! You’ve been such a Godsend! ❤️❤️❤️❤️

Hi my friend,

I’m so happy to hear from you! ❤️
You have been so kind to me and I appreciate your friendship and support so much.

It appears I’m in trouble again with this little guy and I’m going to have to assist. I’m such a nervous wreck!!
I read the article 3 times already. Lol!
We don’t have coconut oil though or Neosporin. We have A&D baby ointment.
Can I use anything other than coconut oil or do I need to go out and purchase some?
Hubby is at work and I’m afraid to leave my little egg!!

Do you have any oil ?
Can you move the bator to a bathroom that has a shower ?
I o this when needing to assist
I pull the egg out and keep the bator closed so it doesn’t loose humidity and heat while working on the egg
I will run the shower on hot fir a few mins before starting to get it warm and humid in the room
You could take a little water on a q tip to wet that membrane to see
But if there is veins then we leave it a few more hours and recheck. Use Vaseline to keep the membrane moist
Take pics so we can see what’s going on
We don’t want to loose this little one
