Thank you! I’ve got sav-a-chick in the water and I’ve especially kept an eye on it.Yesssss!Congratulations, and great job with all your preparation and care for the special little tinys. What lovely, sweet little baby chickies! I'm certainly looking forward to seeing pictures and stories along the way
I hope that one little black chickie stops getting trampled. I've seen squishings happen in the brooder...I once picked up a trampled chick (who looked very squished and dead)...to see that she was actually just laying there kind of dazed/stunned, letting them trample her. And that can kill them. (In that case, I simply rubbed her 'awake' and stimulate her, as well as a bit of extra vitamins and electrolytes, and extra TLC does wonders) I would keep an eye on that one. Does it seem smaller and/or weaker than the others? You can be her little body guard when you can. Also ensure they have enough space in their brooder, and mine love having small things to jump on. As well as something to go in/under.
Thank you!Awwww....they are so sweet!
Okay so first I’m going to start off by telling you guys that this thread is so I (and you guys of course) can watch these newly hatched chicks grow up into adults.
Okay so here’s a ‘blast from the past’ ....
My broody quit on day 12 (she has been broody successfully 3+ times in the past so I’m not really sure what happened)
I did the only thing I knew to do and put them in my MagicFly incubator.
I lost a couple due to blood rings
Then on day 19 I SAW PIPS!! Later that day (still day 19) 2 of them hatched! One of them made it successfully and the other one was stuck in a fetal position and died the following morning (day 20).
So I had 1 Chick in day 20. I looked through the glass to see 2 adorable little fuzz balls peeping and chirping at me! (Day 20).
All 3 were dry and fuzzy when I put them in the brooder!
Later that evening (ending of day 20) I saw 3 pips! 2 hatches out that night and the other hatched this morning (day 21 today).
So I’ve gotten 6 little miracles! Also the first 6 are bantam mixes and I still have one egg in the Bator still (day 21) that is internally pipped.
Also, the extra chicks in there are chicks I got from a breeder.
