Oh I hope mine start soon. Not sure if a blue Sapphire and blue rock are the same.....17wks!
Mine laid a wk after first squat!Well I have a squatter! Since I have a roo they don't normally squat for me. This one squatted either Tue or Wed and then again today... Shocked me since it is NOT one of the 2 I posted pics of and her comb isn't as big or red. I am not keeping this one she is just waiting for her new owner to pick her up. She is 17 weeks and a blue rock. Will be interesting to see when she lays.
Oh exciting. The funny thing is 2 others look ready by their combs and wattles. And she doesn't look ready with that but is squattingMine laid a wk after first squat!
Idk if they are the same either!
Oh no on going away. I missed one of my girls first eggs last year. How old are your girls? Last year my roo wouldn't do his thing until really close to the girls laying. I haven't noticed if he has started with any of the teensI can't wait to share! Thos are some beautiful ladies. I'm patiently waiting. They have let my Rooster do his thing...lol...and we have 3 really red combs. So I don't think we're too far off. Of course...I'm going away for a week. I'm sad that I might actually miss my fist egg.
I got them from TSC and in all the excitement I forgot to ask how old they were. I guessed based off feathering they might have been a week or so old. So my best guess is 16 or so weeks. They are spending more time during the day in the coop and I took that as a good sign. But when Stormy started his business....lol I figured we a probably getting close. Here all but one from a week or so ago.....my sapphire gem is my shadow. So she was standing next to me when I took this. Everyone is much redder now!Oh no on going away. Hopefully soon for you!!!! They are all so cute!!! Mine like to play in the coop and hang out there often so I can't even go by that.lol. Since they were raised in a brooder in the coop I think they feel it is their safe space. A few have checked out the nest boxes "for real". Most just perch on the sides or look around in them so not really checking them out as a place to lay. Lol. I am sure some won't lay for a long time but I have a few that I am guessing will in the next few weeks.I got them from TSC and in all the excitement I forgot to ask how old they were. It's so exciting. I'm putting the nesting boxes in tomorrow. I've had them out and I'm a little late getting them in. I wanted to put them in last weekend but I got busy packing for vacation. I'm hoping it's still a few more weeks away like you said!Hopefully soon for you!!!! They are all so cute!!! Mine like to play in the coop and hang out there often so I can't even go by that.lol.
