That is why I was trying to see who he was mating and who he wasn't... Figured if they weren't making eggs they wouldn't be receptive. But Nugget was laying before this.. so who knows. But that is good to knowI also learned that roos don't (usually) mate a hen that is in molt.... so maybe.... . . .
LOL are you really naming #1 "Optimus Prime"@Smiles-N-Sunshine how is your lockdown going?
TIME FOR DUCK EGG UPDATE!
The baby Welsh Harlequin eggs are on day 7 incubation, and looking fantastic! Eggs # 1-8, 10 & 11 are fertile and developing.

Eggs #9, 12 &13 were still completely clear, so I removed them. I gave them a crack to inspect - and they were not fertilized, which means all fertilized eggs are developing wonderfully so far! (Except egg #14 that was murdered by USPS in transit)
Blackie is currently sitting on eggs #3,5,7,8,10 and 11. I removed the 3 clear eggs from her nest while she was outside and swapped them for three other fertile eggs with good looking air cells. 1 week down... 3 to go!
Wooooooo!!! Let's go, stealth duckies!!!Today is Day 28 and I have four pips in the 32 duck eggs that made it past Day 7
Makes sense that you already knew this haha. I just learned about it(since I don't have a mister chicken) so figured I'd throw it out there. I hope they get back to laying for you soon! That is why I was trying to see who he was mating and who he wasn't...
Please post pics when they hatch! How exciting!LOL are you really naming #1 "Optimus Prime"Well heck, call me invested now.
Today is Day 28 and I have four pips in the 32 duck eggs that made it past Day 7. I just moved 13 four-week-old ducklings and 19 RIR chicks from the previous hatch out of the "bird room" and into adjoining outdoor pens next to genpop. I don't think I've ever ran a bator back-to-back like this, with barely a dry-off after the bleach scrub. It's a bit earlier than I would have preferred to move them, as the ducklings aren't fully feathered and the chicks could probably squeeze through the 2" chain link fencing if they really wanted to, but they have nice fluffy shelters with fresh pine shavings to snuggle up in.
Honestly I didn't for sure. Just thought maybe he would sense it somehow. So was good to learn it is trueMakes sense that you already knew this haha. I just learned about it(since I don't have a mister chicken) so figured I'd throw it out there. I hope they get back to laying for you soon!
Awww look at that bouncing baby!!!!Blackie got some extra protein snacks while she was out today... but she was still adamant about returning to her eggies almost exactly at the 20-minute markdedicated girl... I just want to make sure she doesn't waste away!

I think we may have lost WH #4(totally detached air cell)... I'm not positive yet. I'll recheck in a couple days to see how it's looking. It seems less vibrant and it's very hard to see the veins that I can find... but I'll give it a few more days before I pull it, just in case...
