sorry I haven't been around here much. Lets see I hatched Merica in June and he just went to his new home this week, he actually found his voice the morning before he left so glad I got to hear him crow. LOL but he went to a friends house so I will get updates on him. :)
Then I hatched 10 in July. I am keeping 4 of those babies. a splash roo, 2 splash pullets and a blue frizzle pullet. I still have 2 other roos that someone wants.... just waiting to hear when he will get them.

Then I hatched the 16 in Aug, 1 passed early (just never grew) then I think I had 8 roo and 7 pullets??? something like that. I was going to keep 2 from this group since I thought one of the splash frizzles was a pullet but was a slow maturing boy..... so decided not to keep any. I am down to 2 pullets and I think 4 roo's. I have someone that is taking them as she has a soft spot for roo's. :)

The rest of my April chicks have laid besides my crested cream legbar!!!!!!! She was showing signs of being ready but then just stopped and never laid. UGH! so no clue what shade her eggs are and I am dying to know what color. I have actually had 2 already go broody from this group and they are mean broodies!!!!!!!!! My buttercup is broody now and is extremely mean!!!!!!! I am hoping she will break quick on her own with the time of year it is.... and my Salmon Faverolles was broody a couple weeks ago for a couple weeks then quit on her own. I have a crate to break them if I HAVE to but hoping she will do it on her own.

MochaLatte had an unfortunate accident with her flock so will be starting over when it gets warmer.
Sounds like you flock is doing good! Im so sorry @MochaLatte. 😞

I LOVE my faverolles!!!!!! I will say that both of mine have gone broody...... LOL one was only 6 mo when she went broody!!!!

I am hoping to get more eggs from the same seller next year and hatch some more eggs to add a couple of breeds next year. But my coop is pretty full right now which is why I chose not to keep any of the youngest ones. Thinking Orpington (would LOVE a lavender one, tried to get one this year when I got my April chicks but they didn't come in at the feed store I got my chicks from. :( ) and not sure what else.

My boss has an old coop she told me I could have for free that is decent size but we have to figure out how to get it in my yard...... then I want to put that up and build onto my run and have the 2 coops with 1 big run and hope that works.

what breeds do you have again?
I have a buff orpington which is the best out of all of my flock. A cinnamon queen which is the second best. An austrolorp, a silver laced wyandotte and a light brahma. The brahma has twisted toes so im getting rid of her and putting her out of her pain.
