IT HAPPENED!!!

Zoingo, however... did some crazy business. I found her egg eaten this morning under the roosts. Looked back on cameras and saw that she hopped off of the roost at midnight and laid it really fast (like 15 seconds after she jumped down) and then hopped back up to bed. I didn't realize... and the smaller chickens went to town on it this morning

But then... Zoingo just went back into the nestbox like for her "normal" laying time(around 8am)... and laid this.... . . . Connected, double egg that's shell-less.

It is so wonky. The exterior is soft like thin leather. I knew that since she just laid at midnight, 8 hours is not long enough for her to form a new shell... I am worried though that she is expelling so many eggs? I hope someone knows if this is okay/normal since she is a new layer. (Laid first egg 11 days ago.) I do know that new layers can have glitches, etc... I'm crossing my fingers that she takes some time off for herself...

Wow! That is so strange looking!!! I have heard with new layers just about everything is normal. I wouldn't worry about it.

That's what i was hoping... I told myself I wasn't going to ask if any of my weird new layer eggs were normal ...but here I am

I can see the color difference! I really do think her "light tint" of color is so cool. I've never seen any like that before! I bet her eggs will keep getting bigger. Moon & Speedy each laid their second egg this morning... they are also peewee I'm sure they will just take some time to work up to it!

Nugget was in the box earlier as she was close to done Hummer was waiting at the coop door waiting for a while then left... Guess she wanted to be alone? Lol. As soon as Nugget ran out Hummer went in. Lol. Waiting for her to be done so I can go check. Lol

Nugget was in the box earlier as she was close to done Hummer was waiting at the coop door waiting for a while then left... Guess she wanted to be alone? Lol. As soon as Nugget ran out Hummer went in. Lol. Waiting for her to be done so I can go check. Lol

Eeks, can't wait! Speedy chose a separate nest box today instead of jumping in with Zoingo. She threw straw eeeeeeeverywhere, but I'm proud she did it on her own!

Haahaa. We all do it. On Wed. Nugget went in the nest box and spent her normal 45 min or so in there and when I checked there was no egg.... So yup I asked about it... Any other time if she is in there it is to lay. If she doesn't lay she doesn't go in so I was worried she may have been egg bound. Lol

Look how lovely they are!!! I like that Hummer used the same box, too. You can really see the pretty color of Hummer's egg with natural light!

Nuggets egg looks more pink in the nest box but it is really pretty. Hummers are so pretty too but the camera washes out the color most times.
