These are the order forms from my local feed store. Shaded ones aren't available that week. I want to order for April 15/16 so hopefully most start laying before winter. Lol

Hmhmhmhmhm... so what to do...?!

Nowhere has the Sicilian Buttercups? Or the only ones that do have crazy shipping?

My coop is 64 sq ft so if I have 18 they will have 3.55 sq ft each so not much under the 4 recommended. Yes my run is 208 sq ft and depending on time and $ I may expand it a bit after my husband gets his shed. haahaa.

from my local feed store my list (so far) is:
1- Buff Brahma
1- olive egger
1- Blue Rock
2- EE

Then hopefully hatch the cochins.

Then the others that I want are cream legbar, black copper Marans, and Sicilian Buttercup. a store about 30 min from me will have those in the same week (Mon-Fri) as my local store (they get theirs Fri or Sat) BUT this store does it first come first serve and the popular (rare) breeds are gone with in minutes. Last year people were lining up 2 hrs before they opened to get in line for chicks!!!!!! They said this year they were doing it different and think announcing on their FB page when they come in (so guess that day?) but if I am working I can't get over there until later so again the ones I want will most likely be gone. The do NOT take pre-orders at all. Oh and their min is 6 for there.

Wonder if you could have someone buy them for you? A family member or friend who is free that day? Especially if you only want one of that kind. Maybe even ask the nicest employee in the store if you could pay now and pick up that afternoon.

From what I understand from others posts last year they won't hold them at all. I did ask on a local Facebook chicken page if anyone was going around the dates my other chick comes if they could get the ones for me and I would pick them up from them. So far no luck but it is still 8 weeks away. One woman did say she could if I wanted to wait till May but then the other chicks would be 2-3 weeks older..

I don’t think it would be super difficult to integrate at that age. If you can split the brooder for a day or two they would most likely be fine. Especially if you can observe to see how they act. Pecking order doesn’t really start to affect anything until the earliest 4 weeks and sometimes longer.

ok. I can't remember what week in May (or if any) they had what I wanted so would have to look again to see the age difference.

I am going to brood in my coop this year by blocking off under my poop boards so I may be able to block off part of it but not sure since I am using a dog exercise pen with a door to block it so it will only have 1 door which I may be able to divide there but then that gives me less room to be able to get in there if I need to. I am hoping this works and I can get to them if needed and to hold them and see them.....

Marshmallow (or think from the camera view it is Marshmallow..... maybe it is Rosie but looks like the same one each time) has been in and out of the coop all morning today. she has only looked in the nest box once then ran away. haahaa. But think she may be getting close. Wish she would go IN the nest box though!

I think she is going to lay!!!!! With Itzy as her cheerleader!!! I will post the video from a little bit ago of him showing her the box. He has done it a few times today!!!!!

Today at 45 weeks 2 days Rosie, I think it was her, laid her first egg!!!!!! 65g!!!!!!

Sansa (RIR) is 1 week older than Salsa (Speckled Sussex) and 2 weeks older than the splash marans, blue ameraucana, cuckoo marans etc... and they are all best friends
