It was so funny because I had randomly woken up and went to get a drink... then thought I heard something out back. I had previously seen critters snooping around the coop/run on camera so I went to check on the girls. When I got out there... those 2 were just standing there like "ummmm it's dark out here... so..." :gig the next day before I had set up the rope light, there were 4 of them out in the darkness... thats when I decided to give them some light LOL

.....that time our recipes were actually identical. Hahahahahaha

Oh, I also meant to tell you that Brittany laid in a box today! Perhaps her precious egg being savaged made her change her thoughts on location. Someone laid a soft shell egg in the run today, too. Not sure who but I saw them all running around chasing eachother for bits of it :idunno zoingo took today off and so did Goldie... could have been anyone, really!
well glad they have some light now. :) My coop door opens at 6am and most days they don't hop off the roost till 6:15-6:30 LOL One may come down early but they just peek out the door. I do feel bad that they go in at 4:30ish now though. :( But guess this is natural to them so more my feelings.

LMAO on the same recipe. maybe I will start a breakfast casserole recipe swap post on the recipe/cooking forum. :) I do make a breakfast slop (stole the recipe from my BIL) on the stove top that is good too. :)

WOOHOO on Brittany! glad she figured it out and hopefully she continues. oh no on the soft shell egg hopefully it was a one and done!

I can't WAIT for tomorrow to see if Annabelle lays her first egg!!!!!!!!! You know it is funny how some chickens are just super special. I love all my babies but I have to say there is just something about Annabelle. Think it is that most times she is wandering around doing her own thing alone, she chatters away all the time and just seems to have such a sweet docile personality.

I just blew out the first eggs from the 3 new layers and added them to my neurotic collection. I really like to look at them and be proud of the fluffbutts!!! I do, however, hate that the names aren't written in the same direction... shame on me.

Today, at 18 weeks and 4 days... our lovely girl, Zoingo, laid her first egg!!! (She is either a Production Blue or Blue Rock, we don't really know).

This is the first egg of our flock, but several others look to be getting close! Zoingo has been squatting for about 2 weeks and pelvic separation has been there for about a week.

Here is the lovely girl having a dust bath and our first little egg! (The white eggs are fake ceramic ones)

You still can! Save Annabelle's first eggie! I just keep mine in a little old rattan box with a paper towel inside LOL... I keep it above my cabinets. Might switch them to something I can see thru better later on but this works for now

well Nugget was in the box first thing this morning, before anyone else went out. Which is strange since normally if she takes a day off she is normally in there a bit later and Hummer is in there asap after a day off. Once she was done Hummer went in. Annabelle has been in and out of the coop for the last hour or so maybe but hasn't gone in a box but Hummer is in there so maybe that is why? Mine don't seem to like to go into a box if someone else is in one, not even one next to the other one or a spot away from the other one. LOL

Sad thing is Hummer stood up and I could see that she has already laid her egg but is just hanging out in the box still! Wish she would get out so I could see if Annabelle goes in!!!!!!! LOL

Mine go in first thing to. And they wont lay if another bird is in the box. When there is 2 boxes. And then they will go lay in another spot If they cant get in the nesting box right when they want to.
