Yes it was darker even before I washed it but it was also REALLY dirty since we have had rain and sleet so the run is a bit of a mess. I use my lawn "debris" in my run, so in the summer/spring I use grass clippings and the fall I used the leaves. The top layer is dry but under it is a bit of a mess and it was laid in the HWC roof part so that is where it is bad. And as I said it was either dug down for a "nest" or they were digging around (they were sunbathing in holes all over yesterday) and unburied it.... not sure what. It definitely does NOT look close to Annabelles with the shape and color
I sincerely hope that someday we find out what the situation is with this... its such a mystery. That sounds silly, but it really is so curious!

I cant imagine the shape and color changing so drastically like that... but it also doesn't make sense for it to be one of the other girls...

I can't either since it is only those ones not like any others changed... so unless there are others hidden in the run??? After the first one I was out every day and used my rake to rake through it all JIC one got buried and never found another one so after a week or just over I stopped but I would peek around. I will admit it has been so cold here lately and with Christmas and being busy I haven't been out there as much as I was before.

It has been nasty cold here on and off. I feel bad when I don't go out as much but I figure if they have everything they need then... its fine.

What kills me is : both times Ginger laid in the run, they did not peck it open. Brittany RANDOMLY pecks her own eggs in the dang nest box, but she didn't go to town on a freebie??? What the heck.

That is odd that she doesn't touch one just hanging out in the run but will peck her own eggs....

I bet they are getting huge! LOL it is amazing how fast they grow. I can't wait to see the pictures of them.
It's been cute watching their little feathers come in. The speckled sussex and rhodie red are a week older and they seem gigantic. The Meyer's babies are getting wing and tail feathers!
